Prevent Child Abuse America is proud to unveil its new campaign, Pinwheels for Prevention, introducing the pinwheel as the new symbol for child abuse and neglect prevention nationwide. The pinwheel represents efforts to ensure the healthy development of children, while recognizing that our continued position of leadership as a nation depends on how we raise our youth today. Watch for more information as the campaign grows.

Prevent Child Abuse America (PCA America) was founded in 1972. PCA America is the first organization in the United States whose sole mission is “to prevent the abuse and neglect of our nation’s children.” It undertakes its mission by affecting change at the governmental and community level on the systems that support the full range of services needed to promote the child development process and provide parents with better conditions to be the kind of parents they want to be.

CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL TO FEATURE BERENSTAIN ARTWORK ON WALLS

A new children's hospital in Abilene, Texas will have illustrations from Berenstain Bears books decorate hospital spaces, and each room would have a theme from a Berenstain book. The Hendrick Children's Hospital will have 20 private patient rooms and include two chemotherapy rooms and three pediatric intensive care units. It would also have a pediatric intensive care family room, designed to provide comfort for family members, and larger playrooms so "children can be as normal as possible, even when they are sick."

 

"TROUBLE WITH MONEY" CITED AT GOVERNOR'S INSTITUTE ON FINANCIAL EDUCATION

Six teachers who have enhanced financial education in their schools and communities have been honored with "Ripple Effect" awards in Pennsylvania at the Governor's Institute for Financial Education. The institute helps teachers understand how personal finance content can be taught in other contexts, such as using credit card or banking statements to teach middle school math or, for example, books like "The Berenstain Bears and the Trouble with Money" to teach elementary school reading.

Child's Play: The Berenstain Baby Boom, 1946 - 1964. More than two hundred Berenstain drawings featured in national magazines fill these pages, evoking an era when the baby population exploded, American prosperity soared, and more and more families were escaping cities to live the suburban American dream. Although much of the artwork is more than forty years old, it reflects family life and values that we still hold dear.

Join the Berenstain Bears on their latest lift-the-flap adventure: The Berenstain Bears' Baby Easter Bunny. VISIT BEAR COUNTRY!

Mama, Papa, Sister, Brother, and Honey Bear have moved into their new Bear Country quarters at Strong National Museum of Play in Rochester, New York, for a dynamic new, permanent exhibit, The Berenstain Bears: Down a Sunny Dirt Road, produced by Strong in partnership with the Berenstain Family. the installation is a big hit...or as the Museum puts "so much fun you can bear-ly stand it!"

Your journey down the sunny dirt road start with life-size sculptures of the Bear family. Walk down Bear Country Main Street to explore the stores and businesses inspired by the Berenstain books.

There are so many things to see, do, and be in Bear Country! Design and sell quilts at Mama Bear’s Quilt Shop or put on an apron and tackle a project in Papa Bear’s Woodworking Shop. Hungry bears can head to Bear Family Restaurant, a kid-sized diner where you can play customer or be part of the staff. Dr. Bearson’s Dentist Office provides an opportunity to play dentist with a giant set of (removable) teeth, a giant toothbrush, floss, and a dentist’s mirror. There's Farmer Ben’s Farm, Sister and Brother Bear’s Club Houses, and the Bear Country School.
