A BANNER YEAR FOR BERENSTAIN BEARS BOOKS!

2010 might go down in the history books as one of the best years ever for Berenstain Bears fans. Due to the overwhelming demand, what has been a great year for Bear books has just gotten better.

Zondervan published a new book in the popular Living Lights series this month, The Berenstain Bears: Kindness Counts. In this story, Brother Bear loves everything to do with model airplanes, whether it's building, fixing, or flying them. But when he shares one of his prized planes with a younger cub will his kindness be returned?

Next month, Zondervan will publish a new Living Lights book. In The Berenstain Bears and The Joy of Giving Brother and Sister Bear can't wait for Christmas and all the presents they'll open. But during the Christmas pageant something special happens! The Bear cubs learn a very valuable lesson about the joy of giving to others.

Also in September, HarperFestival will publish the very timely, The Berenstain Bears' Computer Trouble. When Papa brings home a computer, the whole family is excited. Soon Mama, Brother, Sister, and even Honey start spending all day every day staring at their own computers. It's up to Papa to get the family off the computer and back into the real world!

The Berenstain Bears in Family Matters, the Musical will be touring across the U.S. in performing arts venues and school auditoriums beginning in the September 2010. The first dates are up on our Appearances pageThe Berenstain Bears in Family Matters, the Musical is an adaptation of three beloved books: The Berenstain Bears Learn About Strangers, The Berenstain Bears and Too Much Junk Food, and The Berenstain Bears’ Trouble at School. Appropriate for kids in Pre-K through 3rd grade, this live musical production is filled with fun songs and dancing, and important lessons. Brother gets a bad grade on a test at school. At first, he tries to hide his troubles but soon realizes opening up to his family is the best way to help solve his problems. Sister learns about the rules of talking to strangers. Finally, when Doc Grizzly points out that the Bears are eating too much junk food, it is a tough pill to swallow, especially for Papa, who rips his overalls trying to show off how fit he is. Everyone’s secret is revealed when Mama finds Brother’s test, Papa’s junk food wrappers, and Sister’s friend, Mr. Frog, who she snuck into the house to protect him from strangers. Using the iconic stories and imagery of the books the show that what truly matters is family.

Sister Bear admits that while playing by herself is fun, she also enjoys being with her friends and sharing time and play. Share in Sister Bear’s joy as she learns that God has blessed her with great friends and lots of time and toys to share.

The Berenstain Bears Hurry to Help

"There will be lots of bears who will need help today. I can feel it in my bones. Follow me, Scouts!” said Papa. It’s time for the Bear Scouts to earn their Good Deed Merit Badge. But things get a little crazy as scoutmaster, Papa Bear looks for someone who really needs their helping hands…and instead causes quite a lot of trouble in Bear Country.

Mama Bear pulls the plug on TV and the Bear cubs are upset! What are they going to do now? All it takes is a peek outside for Brother and Sister to see that God has given them a beautiful world that is far more fun than the TV screen.

NEW BERENSTAIN BEARS DVD ALSO RELEASED!

2009 marked the 30th anniversary of Berenstain Bears on TV. For the first time, some of their classic early specials were released on DVD. In the new DVD collection, The Berenstain Bears’ Halloween Treats, the furry clan returns with jack-o'-lantern adventures that will make your bones tingle with fright and delight! The bear cubs are called upon to use their best scouting skills to solve the great pumpkin disappearance, brave a spooky old mansion, ward off ghosts and save their much-loved Bat Cave. In the end, the cubs learn that spooky things always come with a simple explanation and that's a Halloween treat for them! This is a compilation of episodes from the original CBS series.

The Berenstain Bears’ Halloween Treats

The Berenstain Bears: Kindness, Caring & Sharing DVD was released with their original Valentine’s Day network special, “Comic Valentine” plus four additional episodes including "Messy Room," "Trouble With Friends," "Too Much Birthday," and "Go Fly A Kite."

The Berenstain Bears' Springtime Surprises DVD includes the classic "Easter Surprise," "Play Ball," "Save the Bees," and "The Berenstain Bears and the Truth." Original animation cells from "Easter Surpise" can be found in our Gallery.
