THE BEAR MUSEUM

Moving Pictures: The Bears on Film

Successful cartoonists, cover artists and book illustrators, Stan and Jan also explored the popular art of animation. Their experience storyboarding the Bear books provided them with the necessary education to make the leap into the new medium. Stan and Jan wrote scripts and created model sheets for use by a team of other artists who helped bring the Berenstain Bears to life on screen. Their first television special, The Berenstains Bears’ Christmas Tree, premiered in 1979. since then, the Bears have appeared on five primetime specials, fifty-two Saturday morning shows, and currently appear on a daily program on public television.
